About Becky

Hello! My name is Becky West. My path to therapy was directed by my previous work experience in a not-for-profit agency where I journeyed with youth and staff through mentoring and life coaching. It’s a true privilege for me to walk alongside people through life's challenges and struggles.

As a therapist, my approach is deeply informed by personal experiences of loss, resilience, and the complexities of human relationships. I believe that healing begins when we fully embrace the spectrum of our emotions and align our actions with what truly matters to us. My goal in therapy is to collaboratively find hope in whatever situation a person might be experiencing.

My main therapy of choice is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach that empowers clients to navigate life’s challenges. Through ACT, I help individuals and couples move beyond the struggle with difficult emotions and guide them towards living more meaningful, value-driven lives. I also interweave Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and a person-centered approach within sessions.

Having personally faced loss and relationship challenges, I bring a compassionate, real-world perspective to my practice. My work is especially attuned to those going through grief, family struggles, changes in relationships, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.

In therapy, we’ll work together to:

  • Identify and clarify your values: What truly matters to you, and how can we build a life around those values?

  • Develop emotional resilience: Learning how to accept and make space for painful feelings, rather than avoiding them.

  • Take committed action: Moving forward with small, manageable steps toward a fulfilling and connected life, even in the face of challenges.

Whether you're navigating loss, seeking deeper connections, or wanting to break free from cycles of anxiety and stress, my goal is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore and grow.

When I’m not in session, you can find me spending immense amounts of time with my husband and four children, hiking in a vineyard, or backcountry camping in Algonquin.

I'm excited about the opportunity to partner in creating positive change!

Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is fear walking.
