About Micaela
Hi, I’m Micaela!
My goal is to create a space where you feel welcome, safe, and truly heard. I approach every session with warmth, compassion, and curiosity — meeting you where you are and walking alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges.
My Approach
My therapeutic style is collaborative and integrative, meaning we work together to set goals that support your unique needs and experiences. I often use Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you explore your emotions and understand how your thoughts shape your experiences. I also integrate mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), depending on what will be most helpful for you.
My Expertise
I’m especially passionate about supporting teens and young adults as they navigate life transitions and discover who they are. I often work with people who are experiencing:
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Stress and overwhelm
-
Relationship and family challenges
-
Self-esteem and self-worth concerns
-
Life transitions (school, career, identity, independence)
Session Expectations
In our sessions, you can expect a calm and supportive environment. We’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at a pace that feels right for you. My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and offer tools and insights that support you and your goals. I care deeply about building trust and creating a space where you can share your story openly and without judgment.
Background and Training
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical counselling, with specialized coursework in trauma-informed care. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting youth and young adults through both volunteer work and professional roles — including time spent mentoring high school students and working as a university teaching assistant. These experiences have strengthened my belief about the importance of empathy, compassion, and creating a space where people feel seen and valued.
Personal Interests
When I’m not in session, you can usually find me curled up with a good book and a cup of tea, spending time with family and friends, or out exploring nature. I also love bouldering — it’s a fun way for me to stay active and challenge myself.
Professional Passion
For me, being a therapist is truly an honour. I feel grateful to walk alongside people as they share their stories and work towards healing. Each person’s journey is unique and being able to support that process is what makes this work meaningful to me every day.
I look forward to connecting with you and am honoured to be part of your journey.
Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is fear walking.
