About Nina

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist

Becoming a therapist wasn’t just a career choice for me—it was a natural step toward fulfilling my passion for understanding and supporting others. I’ve always believed everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and supported, especially during difficult times. My own experiences have shaped my desire to be a safe, understanding presence for others. I know how powerful it is to have someone listen without judgment, and that’s what I aim to offer in every session.

My Background

I hold a BA in Psychology from Brock University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Niagara University. My training includes evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and play therapy. I'm registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and continually update my knowledge with the latest techniques, including mindfulness practices to manage stress and anxiety.

How I Can Help You

I work with both adults and children, tailoring my approach to meet the needs of each age group. For children aged 4 and up, I use play therapy and creative methods to help them navigate issues such as anxiety, ADHD, depression, anger management, academic stress, behavioral concerns, bullying, emotion dysregulation, and family dynamics amongst others.  I aim to create a trusting environment where kids feel safe and empowered.

For adults, I address issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, OCD, ADHD, anger management, communication struggles, social anxiety, and difficulty coping with change. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can explore challenges and develop practical strategies for growth.

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness practices to foster personal growth, resilience, and emotional well-being.

What Makes My Approach Unique

My practice is deeply personalized for each client. I take time to understand individual needs, strengths, and goals, creating a tailored experience for both children and adults. Clients often tell me they appreciate the calm ,genuine,  non-judgmental space I provide, where they feel comfortable and supported.

My Therapeutic Approach

I believe therapy works best when built on trust and collaboration. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, non-judgmental space where we move at your pace. I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness practices to offer both immediate support and long-term growth.

My Approach with Children

Therapy is most effective for children when it feels safe, fun, and natural. Through play therapy, kids can express emotions and work through challenges in an engaging way. I combine play therapy with CBT and mindfulness to help children develop healthy coping skills and manage emotions.

What to Expect in Our Sessions

Each session is relaxed and tailored to your needs. Whether it's play therapy for children or a structured approach for adults, we’ll explore challenges at your own pace and work on practical strategies. In our first session, we’ll focus on understanding your goals and creating a trusting environment.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my cat, Stewie, connecting with friends and family, working on creative projects, or exploring nature. These activities help me recharge and bring my best self to every session.

Ready To Take The Next Step?

I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, but you're not alone in this. Whether you're looking for support for yourself or your child, I'm here to help. Together, we can create a plan that feels right for you.

Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is fear walking.
