About Taylor

Hello! I’m Taylor Thompson, and I’m dedicated to guiding you toward a more confident, connected, and secure life. My journey into therapy began in my teenage years, fueled by a passion for psychology and a desire to support others. What I find most rewarding about my work is the meaningful connections I build with my clients as we work together to achieve their goals.

In my practice, I work with both adults and children.  For children ages 10+, I utilize play therapy to navigate issues such as anxiety, ADHD, depression, emotion dysregulation, school related issues, and behavioural issues.  For adults I address challenges, including anxiety, depression, attachment issues, post-traumatic stress, and complex trauma. I’m particularly effective for those who feel “off” but can’t pinpoint why. Together, we’ll explore your triggers and delve into the root causes of your experiences, working through unresolved trauma while developing healthy coping strategies.

I believe that effective therapy is built on a strong therapeutic alliance, where we collaborate as partners in your journey.  I draw from various theoretical frameworks in my practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In our sessions, you can expect me to show up as my authentic self, creating a structured, goal-oriented environment. My aim is for you to leave each session with tangible insights and steps forward.

My path to becoming a therapist began with a degree in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, followed by work in rehabilitation psychology that solidified my commitment to this field. I continued my education with a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counselling from Niagara University.

I like to think of our first session as a coffee date—my goal is to make you feel safe and comfortable as we get to know each other. By the end of our time together, we’ll have a clear sense of the path forward.

When I’m not in session, you might find me at a CrossFit class or coaching jump rope lessons for children in my community. I prioritize self-care to ensure that I can show up fully for my clients every day.

Let’s connect! Book your first session with me—I can’t wait to meet you!

Courage is not the absence of fear; courage is fear walking.
